Daily reasons to quit your job and go your own way
Because your salary is a trap
Your job comes with a salary. Substantial sums of money keep showing up in your bank account, regularly, reliably, automatically.
Ever since you started work, your salary has been going up. At every annual review, it went up a little; at every promotion, it went up a little more; whenever you landed a position with a new employer, it went up a lot. To let go of that salary for an income that’s bound to be lower, less regular and less reliable seems like going backwards.
It also seems like an unconscionable risk. Those substantial sums of money pay for food, clothes, shelter, water, heat, light, everything. Not just for you, but for your family, too. That salary is security. That salary allows you to live your life.
And yet, if your salary is what allows you to live your life, how is it that no matter how much it goes up, you never seem to be living your true life?
What if your salary is precisely the opposite of what you think it is? What if, instead of allowing you to live your life, your salary is preventing you from quitting your job and living your true life? What if your salary is a trap?
Make that switch in your mind, and you might find letting go of your salary easier than you think.
