Because you’ll be old before you know it

There’s hardly a soul in the world who’s not astonished at how old they are.

Every 80-year-old I’ve ever met has told me the same thing: “I can’t believe I’m this old. I don’t feel this old.”

There are exceptions.

I’ve met plenty of 4¾-year-olds who can’t believe they’re not 5.

I met a lively 105-year-old who seemed quite comfortable with his age. I asked him his secret. He declared: “Wine, women and dance!”

But among mere mortals like you and me, there’s hardly a soul who’s not astonished at how old they are.
